Our Practice

Vineyard Veterinary Hospital officially came to be shortly after the previous practice was taken over by Dr. Totman in January, 2003. One of the main things that Dr. Totman did to change and reshape the practice was to shift the focus from clinical animal health care to more of a collaborative approach, based on communication and a partnership between us and the caretakers of our patients. Beyond providing exceptional veterinary care, we also aim to provide our clients with the education, tools and support they need to help their companions enjoy many years of good health.

We are a full service animal health care facility that is dedicated exclusively to the care and treatment of dogs and cats. We offer an extensive array of services designed to both support our patients’ current health, and manage their ongoing care over time. While our core services promote wellness and preventative care, we also offer a wide array of treatment options to address any medical, diagnostic, dental or surgical need that may arise for your pet, including emergency care, which is available to our patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our goal is to provide for the complete care of your pet in one convenient location, so you’ll never have to look elsewhere.

The hospital itself is state of the art and furnished with all of the space, equipment, technology and amenities necessary to provide our patients with a lifetime of quality care. We offer a warm, welcoming waiting area; modern, spacious exam rooms; a fully equipped surgical suite and diagnostic laboratory; a well-stocked pharmacy for all of your pet prescription needs and a small retail shop with select pet care products. We work hard to maintain cleanliness, order and an atmosphere that makes trips to the vet a positive experience for everyone – particularly those of the four-legged variety!

Our practice is made complete with a team of highly skilled, compassionate veterinary professionals that look beyond the many accolades, degrees and years of experience they’ve amassed to see what’s truly important: providing each patient with the highest quality of care, individual attention and personalized service they need to bring out their very best. We truly believe that when we take the time to listen to the concerns of our clients, answer their questions, and really get to know their animal companions, only then can we offer them the most effective veterinary care.

At Vineyard Veterinary Hospital, we believe we’re different than many of the other area practices, and we’re proud of those differences! One of the areas we focus on is the comprehensiveness of the care we provide. We don’t believe in drawing clients in with low prices, and then adding on a bunch of other services after the fact. We believe that in order to truly keep our furry friends healthy and safe, we must provide them with the highest level of care in everything we do, whether it’s a wellness exam or a complex surgical procedure.

While some practices might find things like pre-anesthetic blood work or pain management optional, we feel they are mandatory because we always want what’s best for your cherished companion. At the same time, we work hard to make accessing high quality, comprehensive veterinary care affordable because we feel that every pet deserves the highest level of care available throughout their lifetime.

Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, at Vineyard Veterinary Hospital, we believe that building relationships is the most critical component of quality veterinary care. We don’t just want to be your family vet. We want to become your partner, your teammate, your copilot. We want to be by your side, every step of the way, from your pet’s first visit through the senior years and at every milestone along the way. Together we will work hard to help your four-legged family member enjoy as long, happy and healthy a life as possible.

In the last 10 years Dr. Totman has cared for all of my fur babies with expertise and compassion that is unparalleled in Temecula. The happiest day is when you get your pet, the saddest day is when you say goodbye to your pet. And with all the things that happen to your pet then and in between, you want expert care in a family-owned environment vs. a corporate sales-oriented one. No one wants to think of that worst day. When that day comes though, as it did for me this week, you want a vet and staff who is sensitive to your pet's needs, comfort, and your grief. You want a vet who loves his patient, and you get that with Dr. Totman and his staff.
