Stocking Stuffers for Fido

Are you still working on your holiday shopping? Don’t forget to pick up something for Fido! While things like kiddie pools, mechanical ball launchers, and pet ramps make great larger gifts, your canine buddy will also appreciate smaller things. Read on as a local Murrieta, CA veterinarian lists some great gift suggestions that will keep your pup’s cute tail wagging.

Toys

Toys aren’t just fun for Fido: they keep him occupied, and help stave off doggy boredom. They also provide your pooch with beneficial mental stimulation. Different types of toys fulfill different needs for dogs. A plush toy may comfort your furry pal, while a squeaky toy may satisfy his prey drive. Get Fido a variety of playthings, and see what he likes best.

Chews

If you have a younger pooch, he may really enjoy a good chew stick. (Tip: putting doggy toothpaste on a chew is a great way to help keep Fido’s teeth clean.) We do advise caution with rawhide chews, however, as some of them can break off into small pieces, which can then become a choking hazard. Ask your vet for more information.

Treats

This one probably isn’t a shocker. Snacks may very well be Fido’s favorite gift ever! You can of course get store-bought treats, but you can also make your own. Look online for recipes that use dog-safe ingredients. Or, experiment and try something new. Get a cute bone-shaped mold to use as a cookie cutter, and then put the treats in a mason jar. Tie it off with a festive ribbon.

Grooming Supplies

Many people find things like lotions and perfumes make great stocking stuffers. The doggy equivalents to these would be things like paw balm, dental chews, pet wipes, and even brushes. You can also get clippers with sensors, or perhaps a collar fitted with a GPS tracker.

Blankets

You don’t have to get all of Fido’s gifts in a pet store. A soft throw blanket is a great option! Choose one that’s easily washable, and put it over his bed.

Travel Goodies

Do you like to take Fido out and about with you? Tie lines, retractable leashes, and collapsible dishes are all great options for a doggy on the go!
